ns-UTTec Prevents from Small Tool Breakage

Recently Volkswagen China adopted ns-UTTec sensor device on a dual-spindle machine tool for the real-time machining monitoring of small diameter (Φ 3 mm) cutting tools. The monitoring system is equipped with digital three-axis piezoelectric sensor with M12 mechanical connection interface to monitor tool vibration and spindle temperature, with threshold alarm and data recording functions and connected to RS485 interface output through ModBus serial communication protocol.
ns-UTTec tool monitoring system has extremely high acceleration dynamic response performance, such as resolution 0.0192 m/s2, sensitivity 52.19 LSB/m/s2 (±2%), measurement range ±156.96 m/s2, frequency range 500Hz ±10% . In the temperature range of -40 to +80 °C, the system can achieve dynamic monitoring characteristics with 0.5 °C resolution and 2 LSB/°C sensitivity.

ns-UTTec system can monitor the subtle changes in the force and torque of small-diameter tools during machining and give an alarm in time to prevent tool breakage and prevent damage to the work-piece and machine tool itself. At the same time, the system can also be used for machine tool spindle collision monitoring and spindle running analysis, as well as generating spindle running logs. In the event of a collision, the system will automatically record detailed data before and after the collision. The UT-Cm HMI allows the export of real-time or non-real-time data at every moment in the machining process. ns-UTTec dashboard can display the spindle operation and tool processing status of all machine tools in enterprise workshop in real time, making machining monitoring more convenient.
